Myrtus Boon, born May 9, 1927 to John and Ella Hewitt in Polson, died at Immanuel Lutheran Home on the evening of July 5, 2017. Her children and one of her sisters had been with her all through the last week sharing memories and the sure hope of her real home in heaven.

Myrtie grew up in Polson, the eldest of 4 sisters. They were raised to love and follow the Lord Jesus and to love and share the gift of music, which is a legacy for generations. After graduating from Polson High School Myrtie attended secretarial school in Minneapolis. She returned to Polson and worked for a local realtor. She also worked a couple of summers at the lodge on Rocky Point where she met a cute sailor who was the nephew of the caretakers. She married the sailor, Bucky Boon, on August 20, 1947 and lived in Somers for 50 years. Bucky preceded her in death in 1993 after 45 years of marriage.

Myrtie was a member of Eidsvold Lutheran Church in Somers. She was involved in almost every aspect of the church through the years. She participated in and led many activities including; choir, accompanist for the Jr. Choir, Ladies Aid, Council, cantor and Scripture reading as well as Sunday School and VBS teacher. Being an instructor for the Bethel Bible Series was a hi-lite for her.

Music was a great love and activity for Myrtie.

Myrtie was preceded in death by her parents, her “one and only” Bucky and a son-in-law, Michael “Doc” Dockstader. She is survived by her children; Judy and Pat O’Boyle, Lanni and Ron Fetveit of Kalispell, Dave and Robin Boon, of LasVegas, Janet and Wayne Harness and Wanda Dockstader of Bigfork. She was blessed with 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren with one more due in November. She is also survived by her sisters Delphia Blumenthal of Kalispell, Leona Frazier and Gail and Harvey Erickson of Moses Lake, WA sisters-in-law, Ila Geno, Spokane and Elaine McIntyre, Mount Vernon and many nieces, nephews and truck loads of friends!

Myrtie, Mom, Grammyrtie, GG. She has left a precious legacy. Faith in the saving work of Jesus Christ and the sure promise of eternal life with Him. Her contentment with the gift of life even when it gets tough. FAMILY and the blessing of time together and laughing together.
