Myrtle E. Arner, 84, of Bethlehem, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 26, 2014, at The Village at Willow Lane, Macungie. She was the devoted wife of the late Franklin Joseph Arner, Jr., who died in 2005. Born in Lehighton, Myrtle was a daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Kidden) Semmel. She was a graduate of Lehighton High School and Allentown Business School, and worked for PP&L for several years. She was a homemaker, an assistant to her husband, a caregiver, a soprano soloist, an organist, a hunter and fisherman, a knitter, and a Penn State and Phillies fan. She was also a former Treasurer of the Northwest Little League. In 1983 and 1984, Myrtle was the Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Jessie K. Berlin Memorial Chapter #492 of Catasauqua. She was also a member of Christ UCC Church of Schoenersville, where she served as treasurer, organist and soloist. Survivors: Myrtle was beloved by her family. She is survived by her daughter Sandy Goodrich and her husband Peter of Downingtown; son Frank Joseph Arner, III and his wife Wendy of Coplay; grandchildren Michael, Sean and Kyle Goodrich, Timothy, Kate, Kelly and Zachary Arner; sister Edith Lentz of Bowmanstown. Myrtle was predeceased by her twin brother, Meryl “Tex” Semmel, who died earlier this year and is survived by his wife, Olga. She was also predeceased by her sisters Emma Sorber, Miriam Christman and Evelyn Rudelitsch, and by her brothers Woodrow, George, Robert and Walter Semmel, and Martin and Clayton Green.
