Myrle Joan Vander Heyden age 81, of DeMotte, IN passed away on Thursday January 26, 2012 at St. Anthony Medical Center, Crown Point, IN. She was born on November 29, 1930 in Roseland, IL to Harold and Irene (Jones) Nichols, both deceased. Myrle was a 1948 graduate of Fenger High School, Roseland, IL and attended 2 years at Thornton Community College.
On June 6, 1953 she married Cornelius Vander Heyden who passed away in October 2006. She was a retired secretary for the Reformed Church of American Midwest office in Lansing, IL. She previously had worked as a secretary at The United Way, Ontario, CA. She was a member of American Reformed Church, DeMotte where she was active as a piano player, Sunday School Teacher and sang in the choir.
Myrle is survived by her loving children; Carol Lynn (Sam) Sietsma, DeMotte, IN and Thomas R. (Kathy) Vander Heyden, Dyer, IN. Six grandchildren; Tim (Amy) Sietsma, Jennifer Klomp, Amy (Matthew) Smit, Becky (Doug) Hanson, Dr. Tom (Julie) Vander Heyden & Matt (Erin) Vander Heyden. 9 Great Grandchildren and a sister, Geraldine (George) Harro, Waukegan, IL.
