Murl B. Moore, 83, of Albuquerque passed into God’s hands on October 8, 2016. Murl, son of Ruth Jenkins, was born December 5, 1932 in Los Angeles, California. The loves of Murls’ life were his family, the church and the community. He is survived by wife and college sweetheart Sara, who he met at UNM and married at the Cathedral of Saint John’s in Albuquerque on December 22, 1954. Murl and Sara celebrated their 50th anniversary with sons Eric and wife Sarah, Doug and wife Ellen, daughter Karen and husband Steve, along with grandchildren Joseph, Katelyn, Andrew, Madison, Nicholas, Sara Nicole, and Joshua in Hawaii in 2004. He is also survived by Brother Robert, nephew Mike, and nieces Sharon and Melinda.
Murl was a US Marine serving in Okinawa as an ordnance officer following graduation at UNM. He attended graduate school at Stanford University followed by a 33 year career at Sandia National Laboratories. Murl developed a love of fellowship and the outdoors through the mentorship of Harry James and the Trailfinder Organization as a youth. He also loved reading, bridge, and travel and passionately pursued learning and volunteer activities at Saint John’s Cathedral in Albuquerque. The family thanks the numerous excellent caregivers for Murl and especially the dear friendship and care of his neighbor and cardiologist Dr. Michael Harding and family.
