MSG (Ret) Ernest W. “Ernie” Hosea, 64, of McCordsville, IN, passed away Friday, May 4, 2018 in Indianapolis. He was born May 11,1953 at Camp Roberts in California. Ernie retired from the U.S. Army with the rank of Master Sergeant after 20 years’ service.

He had been a forward observer for 10 years and a recruiter in Lawton, OK, Oklahoma City, OK, and Houston, Texas for 10 years before retiring in 1994. As a recruiter he received the Gold Badge and Ring Recruiter awards as well as being honored with the station commander of the year award. After his Army career, Ernie worked for different companies including Lowes, Eaton Corporation, Gared  Sports, and most recently Spectra  Logistics. He was a 1972 graduate of Eisenhower High School in Lawton, OK, a member of the American Legion, enjoyed NASCAR, collecting coins, stamps and spending time with his grandchildren.

Ernie is survived by wife Rebecca (Silvey) Hosea, whom he married November 11, 1984 in Lawton, OK, his mother Kathleen (DeGrace) Hosea; sisters Christine Young, Mary Mazza and Susie Ortiz; brother James (Lisa) Hosea USN (ret); sister-in-law Diane Hosea; children: Michelle (Guy) England, Jennifer (Jerry) Richey and Sondra (Chad) Callaway; grandchildren: Crystal Eakin, Dennis England, Heather England, Kelsey Lewis, Lance England, Kaleb Goodwin, Monica Thomas, 10 great-grandchildren, and  several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father MSG (Ret) Ernest W. Hosea and brother Mark Hosea USN (Ret).
