On October 6, 2009 Rose Cushing Olschner passed peacefully from the embrace of her cherished children and grandchildren into the loving arms of the Lord. She lived a full and blessed life of 89 years. Rose was grateful for the exceptionally kind assistance provided her by the Fairview Manor, an assisted living facility, in Fairmont, Nebraska. The Fairview Manor is located a short walk from the home of Rose’s daughter, Celeste and her husband, Doug, and their six children. For 85 years Rose made her home in New Orleans, where she greatly enjoyed family, friends, and the food.
Rose’s long-time friends included parishioners of St. Agnes and her classmates from Dominican High School, Class of 1938, for which she was the Class President. She ensured a class reunion was held on their Dominican graduation day, June 8th, every year for the past 60 years.
Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Edmond Olschner, and her parents, Robert and Celeste Cushing. She is survived by: her brother, Robert Cushing, Jr.; three sons, Clay, David, and Wayne Olschner; three daughters, Rosalind Kirk, Laura Latham, and Celeste Wilson; 18 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
