Rose Ann (Carucci) Longo, 93, of Plainville passed away peacefully on Friday, February 11, 2011, at Southington Care Center. She was the beloved wife of the late John F. Longo, with whom she shared 53 years of marriage. Born in Bristol, CT, on December 4, 1917, she was the last surviving daughter of all of her seven siblings born to the late Michael and Rose (Inquito) Carucci.
Rose was a lifelong resident of Plainville graduating from Plainville High School in 1936, where she was voted “Best Personality”. She lived for her family and time spent with them was most cherished. She was a devoted wife and mother to her children, raising them to always put family first. At home John and Rose worked as a team. John would grow the fruits and vegetables in his garden as Rose would can and cook them for family and friends. Holidays were always celebrated by Rose’s traditional Italian cookies and baked goods. John and Rose enjoyed big band music and dancing at Lake Compounce. They also enjoyed traveling abroad with friends. Rose was a spiritual woman and devoted to her faith.
She leaves her loving children, Peter Longo and his wife, Lee, of Plainville, Michael Longo and his wife, Carol, of Manchester, John “Jack” Longo of Glastonbury, Mark Longo and his wife, Peg, and her son Dan of Manchester, and Elizabeth “Betty” Bovino and her husband, Michael, of Meriden; eight grandchildren, Matthew, Michael, Timothy, Stephen, Jason and Sarah Longo, Kristin Dalton and her husband, Joe, Meredith Atkinson and her husband, Joel; two great-grandchildren, Sophia Field and Zachary Dalton; her sisters-in-law, Margaret Plocharsky, Rose Mossa and Viola Longo; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; along with close and endearing friends.
