Mary Rose Sunseri Castillon, 88, born in New Orleans, a 35 year resident of Kenner, now residing in Slidell, died peacefully at home on September 9, 2010 after a long, valiant struggle with Lewy Body Dementia. She was preceeded in death by her parents Mabel Laresche Sunseri and Calcedonio “Calcy” Sunseri. Mary Rose was devoted to her beloved husband of 67 years, Alfred “Buster’ Castillon, Sr., her daughter Mikelle Castillon Fern (husband Chris), her son Alfred “Al” Castillon, Jr.(wife Earline “Su-Su”) five grandchildren Kimberly Fern Englert(Eric), Christian Fern II(Jennica), Nicole Castillon Mayers(Wayne), Angelle Castillon Ellenberger(Jeremy), Alfred “Cal” Castillon III, 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Lois Sunseri VonHoven (Charles), her sister-in-law Louise Castillon Stephens (the late Ernest Stephens), many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mary Rose was loved by all who knew her and will be dearly missed. She loved family and remembered all of her immediate and extended family’s birthdays and special occasions. Mary Rose worked with her husband until retirement, in the family grocery, Cast Food Mart. She was also a volunteer for many years at East Jefferson Hospital Gift Shop. The family would like to thank all of the wonderful staff of Hospice Compassus, and her personal caregivers, Michelle, Janet and Nita for their loving care and concern.
