As you have carefully tendered the garden of your life with love, inspiration, peace, and understanding you have been an inspiration to others…those blessed by the fruit of your loving spirit were truly nurtured by your presence.
Eva Mae Minter (Lee), daughter of the late George A. Minter and Vinnie Jamerson (Viney Jammerson), was born November 21, 1928 in Chatham, Virginia. She met the late Hoyte “Earl” Lee, Sr. in New York City, and they were united in marriage on April 8, 1948 and to this union, three children were born, Victoria Lee (Brewer), Laurette Lee, and Hoyte E. Lee, Jr. She fought a good long fight; the Lord called Eva home Saturday, October 31, 2020.
In 1964, Hoyte Lee, Sr. and Eva moved from New York to North Carolina to raise their children and built a home in Moncure, NC. In 1965, she had a hunger to know this God she’d heard so much about and searched from church to church. Eva was touched by the Lord during a house revival that changed her whole life. In 1966, she joined the Church of God of Prophecy in Pittsboro where she was a faithful member and began to be known by many as “Sister Lee”. Her husband saw the change in her and also came to know this loving Savior. She and her husband both were called into the ministry where they touched many lives. She lost her loving husband in 1973. In August of 1975, she was appointed pastor of the Church of God of Prophecy in Goldston until August 1987. She took a leave from pastoring and worked as a CNA at Pittsboro Christian Village and did private CNA duties in the Chatham County area. In 1995, she returned to pastoring and became the pastor of the Church of God of Prophecy in Pittsboro where she retired in July 2001. She became an active member at Eli Whitney Church of God of Prophecy in Graham, North Carolina under the pastoral leadership of Jimmy Sutton until her health declined.
Sister Eva Lee was truly a laborer for the Lord and many have called her mother, sister, friend, mentor, grandma (Mema Eva), faithful, loving, strong ambassador, and lived what she preached!!!
She leaves to cherish her memory: daughters, Victoria L. Brewer (Robert) of Greensboro, North Carolina, Laurette Lee of Durham, North Carolina, and son, Hoyte E. Lee, Jr. (Belissa) of Moncure, North Carolina; one special and loving sister, Ruth Scotton of High Point, North Carolina; a special sister-in-law, Willie M. “Billie” Rogers of Greensboro, North Carolina; eight grandchildren, Aaron Brewer (Ashley), Shaun Brewer, Micheala Brewer, Toymisha Thomas, TiShara Thomas, Kenya Lee, Kaleb Lee, Kendall Lee nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
