Our mother, CALLIE BERNICE REIVES, age 90, transitioned to her heavenly home, Friday, January 22, 2021 at Genesis Health Care Center, Siler City NC. She was born in Siler City, NC on November 6, 1930 to the late James Wagner and Lina Siler Lane.

She was married to Clem McKinley Reives, Jr., who preceded her in death June 1989. Additionally she was preceded in death by: an infant daughter, Ellen Simone Reives; sons, Sherman McKinley and James Tyrone Reives; and a grandson, Rodney Reives.

Callie Bernice was raised in Siler City and was a 1948 graduate of Chatham County Training School, Siler City, where she served as secretary Of the Alumni Club. organized in 1939 with only two officers; president and secretary. She was a “star” team player on Chatham County Training School’s girls basketball team. She also participated in several school related activitues.

Callie Bernice was a faithful and dedicated member of Corinth A.M,E. Zion Church, Siler City NC, During her former years as a member, she was a soloist in the church choir. Her favorite songs she sang were ‘”How Creat Thou Art” and “Holy, Holy, Holy.” She was a member of the church Missionary Department. She was a missionary for Christ with a humble spirit, serving others, and living close to the Lord.

Surviving to cherish her loving memories are: sons, Keith and Garry Reives, Siler City, NC, Stephen Eric Reives, Lithonia, GA; a daughter, Angela Reives, Greensboro, NC; sisters, Margaret Rieves, Greensboro, NC, Loretta Lane and Jennifer Matthews, Siler City, NC; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
