Mrs. Betty Carol S. Duffey, age 89, of Valley, Alabama passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at the EAMC Lanier Nursing Home in Valley.
Mrs. Duffey was born in Langdale, Alabama on April 19, 1933 to the late Eugene A. Smith and Sinie McClain Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Duffey, brother, Larry Smith, grandchild, Skylar Duffey, and infant sister, Christina Joyce Smith.
Mrs. Duffey was a graduate of Valley High School, where she sang as a soloist in the Glee Club.
She was a loving, faithful wife and mother, and an excellent cook.
She was a very active and faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Shawmut, where she had served as the church secretary, sang in the choir, and played the piano. She also sang at many weddings over the years.
She was a former employee of the West Point Stevens Personnel Services Center.
She is survived by her children, Greg (Kathy) Duffey, Angie (Kirby) Hadaway, Tina (Tommy) Hamby, Chris (Angie) Duffey; grandchildren, Zach (Katrina) Duffey, Miles Duffey, Landra (Cory) Cooper, Jacob Moore, Jim (Pam) Hamby, Dan (Beth) Hamby, Landon (Kayla) Duffey; great grandchildren, Piper Duffey, Allisah Arwood, Kenadie Cooper, Keeley Moore, Huntleigh Duffey, Holland Duffey, Cole Hamby, Conner Hamby, Art Hamby; great great-grandchild, Ava Kate Hamby; special caregiver, Rebecca Jacobs; sister-in-laws, Phyllis Smith, Peggy Gaylor (William); numerous nieces and nephews, extended family members, and friends.
