Mr. Willis Brooks was born in Chatham County to the late O’Neal and Exie Matthews Brooks on January 13, 1949. He transitioned from his earthly home on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at Hospice of Randolph, Asheboro, NC

Willis joined Jordan Grove A.M.E. Zion Church at a young age where he remained a member until his death. Educated at Chatham High School in Siler City, NC after graduating in 1967, he joined the work force. He was last employed by the City of Asheboro, where he remained until he was injured. Because of the injury, he became permanently disabled but never gave up. Against the odds, he was able to walk again, drive and do things that he was told he would never be able to do again. Thanks be to God!

Willis, a man of few words, but there was never a dull moment when you were in his presence. He was very knowledgeable about a variety of topics and would always give you words of wisdom before leaving his presence

In the Spring of 2021, he got his license back.

Willis was preceded in death by his parents, sister Ophelia Alston, brother Henry Brooks, and a grandson, Shawn Leach, Jr.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories: sons, Cedric Marsh of Siler City, NC, Shawn Leach of Asheboro, NC and Willis Terry (Courtney) of Kannapolis, NC; brother Kemeth Brooks (Donnie) of Siler City, NC; sister Robin Brooks of Siler City, NC; grandchildren, Kier Marsh, Candice Marsh, RaCherie Williams, Antonio Leach, Chanessi Leach, Camdon Leach, Tiona Leach, Brenda Harris, Merecal Smith, Nyliah Smith and Samaya Lindsay: three great-grandchildren; special nephews, Michael Alston, Franklin Alston Sr., and Joshua O.
