Sabrio
Robert Louis Sabrio, 86, a resident of Old Metairie for 59 years, passed away at home on April 2, 2009 after a long respiratory illness.
He was born on August 16, 1922, on Rampart Street in the New Orleans French Quarter, the son of the late Henry Peter Sabrio Jr. and Isabel Becnel Sabrio. He graduated from St. Aloysius High School and Loyola University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. He married Jane Cook of Philadelphia, Mississippi on November 27, 1947. For most of his professional life he was an executive with the Commonwealth Savings and Loan Association of New Orleans.
An active member of St. Francis Xavier Parish, Holy Name Society, parish council, Saint Vincent de Paul and other parish ministries. When his children were young, he participated in Cub Scout and Boy Scout activities.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Jane Cook Sabrio; his children Michael (Carol), David (Sue), Sandra Getz (Charlie), Stanley (Diane), Danny (Berta), Jimmy (Victoria), and Jane Marie Marks (Kenny); 13 grandchildren: Rob (Cristin), Stephen, Elizabeth, Austin, Casey, Tyler (Jennifer), Caitlyn, Justin, Laura, Jeremy, Alexandra, Matthew, and Andrew; sister Mildred; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Henry Peter Sabrio III and Albert Emile Sabrio.
