Raymond was born February 15, 1925 in Plymouth, son of the late Raymond and Minnie Axelby. He was graduate of Terryville High School and went on to serve as a radioman in the United States Navy during WWII and the Korean War.
He enjoyed watching sports, particularly UCONN Husky Basketball. An avid golfer, he played into his 80’s
