Howard John Sprehe, 85, of Centralia, Illinois passed away Friday, March 12, 2021 at his home, surrounded by the love and care of his daughter and family members.

Born September 5, 1935 in Hoyleton, Illinois, he was the son of Oscar C. and Lulu M. (Lampe) Sprehe.

Howard worked as a carman for the Illinois Central Railroad for 42 years. He was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Centralia, having served as an usher, on the finance board and as a church Elder. Most important to his life was his family, and spending time together.

He was joined in marriage with Treva Mae Allison, July 2, 1954 in Centralia and she preceded him in death March 8, 2020.

Surviving are his children, Lonnie Sprehe and wife April of Horn Lake, Mississippi and Vicky McColpin and husband Steve of Byhalia, Mississippi. Also four grandsons, Avery Sprehe and wife Candy of Nashville, TN, Jason Sprehe and wife Amber of Woodlawn, Illinois, Jonathan McColpin and wife Susan of Byhalia, Mississippi, Matthew McColpin and wife Megan of Byhalia, Mississippi, along with three step-grandsons, Jeremy Gelsinger and wife Shannon of Vandalia, Illinois, Chad Gelsinger of Effingham, Illinois and Curt Gelsinger and wife Tara of Vandalia, Illinois. Also three great grandchildren, ten step-great grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.

Also left to mourn his passing are his sisters Wilma Cash of Lenexa, Kansas, Freida Hoelscher of Irvington, IL.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Marie Sprehe at birth. a brother Eugene of Boulder, IL and brother-in-law Vilas Hoelscher.
