Homer Brewer, age 80, of S.Rockwood, MI passed away Friday afternoon at Oakwood Southshore Hospital, he had been n declining health. Homer was born August 16, 1934 in Florence, Alabama to William and Nellie D. (Haddock) Brewer, he married Goldie “Jo” Woods on January 11, 1953 in Iuka, MS, she preceded him in death on July 24, 1997, his second marriage was to Maxine Kelly who also preceded him in death. Homer moved from Alabama to the Detroit area in 1953, and moved to S. Rockwood in 1965 where he still lived today. Homer was employed for 33 years at McClouth Steel Gibraltar as a boiler operator, after retirement he then took a job as a truck driver where he retired from National Truck Broker’s. Homer was a member of Light Missionary Presbyterian Church in Lincoln Park, MI and the Hiram Masonic Lodge #110 F & AM of Flat Rock, MI. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and he was a self taught musician who played guitar and sang in church and family functions. Homer is survived by his children, William Homer (Marsha) Brewer of Cumming, GA, Bennie Allen (Traci) Brewer of North Las Vegas, NV, Dwayne Eric (Carolyn) Brewer of Cumming, GA, Connie Sue (John) Morrow of Cumming, GA and Deborah Kay Hutchinson of Carleton, MI; daughter in-laws M’shelle Brewer and Tammy Brewer both of Carleton, MI; sister, Daisyruth Flippo of Florence, AL; close friend and companion, Arlene Fox; 17 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his sons, Roger and James Brewer, parents, 5 brothers and 4 sisters.
