Mr. Dillard Ames, 91, of New Market, died on Saturday evening at his residence surrounded by his family.
He was a hard-worker and was a carpenter before he retired and helped to build many of the houses in Hazel Green and Meridianville. He enjoyed looking for arrowheads in the fields around this area. He was of the Jehovah’s Witness belief.
He is survived by his wife, Jewel Ames, with whom he had recently celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary. His sons: Randy Ames and Jeffery Ames; His daughter: Janice Ames Brown and her husband, Paul. His grandchildren: Monica Askew, Leticia Stiles, Marquita Rodgers, & Rodney Brown. His great-grandchildren: Marissa Askew, Sierra Arguelo, Selena Vasques; He is also survived by his brother, Walton Ames of Lancaster, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Ames Holder, His daughter, Jeannie Ames Rodgers, & his son, John Lee Ames.
