Bobby Payne, Sr. was a native of Cordele, Georgia. He was born on March 18, 1937 and went to the glory land on June 18, 2015.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Levi and Lily Mae Payne; four sisters, Leefrancis Morris, Willie Mae King, Louise Ford and Sadie Powell.
He was a well known pianist in Cordele, Georgia and Atlanta, Georgia. He was in several gospel groups: five brothers, sense six, Golden Aires, and sunlighter, all of Cordele, Georgia.
He came to Atlanta about 40 years ago and met Pastor Odell Kindricks, Co-Pastor D.
Survivors include his wife, Ilene Payne; seven children: sons, Bobby Payne, Jr., Michael Payne, Calvin Payne, and Herman Larry Payne; daughters, Jennifer Diane Coley, Shonda Payne, and Alfreda Hunt (Rico Hunt); sister, Caretha James; brother, Levi Payne, Jr.; fifteen grandchildren, thirty-seven great-grandchildren; special nieces and nephews, Betty James, Cathy James, Cassandra Bowens, Blundene Bowens, Leon Ridgeway III, Kenny Payne, Myrtice Poule, Joyce Walts, Teresa White, and Beverly BB; sistersin-law, two brothers-in-law; and a special mother in-law, Emma Williams
