Mr. Alvin Smith, age 96, of Valley passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at the Bethany House in Auburn, Alabama.
Alvin was born on January 28, 1920 in Randolph County, Alabama to the late Ernest Jefferson Smith and Tennie Cooper Smith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion Brazell Smith; siblings, Voncile Smith, Mozell Smith Echols, Curtis Smith, Felton Smith, Virgil Smith, and Awbry Smith.
Mr. Smith is survived by his daughters, Twyla (Parker) Harris; Tamara (Mike) Johnston; grandchildren, Carlen (Chance) Gaines; Casey (Ryan) Rivera; Kali (John David) Kobeck; Kirby (Stephen) Farr; great-grandchildren, Kelsi Schlehmeier, Kaylen Moore, Carson Gaines, Parker Rivera, Henry “Hank” Kobeck.
Mr. Smith was a United States Army and Air Force Veteran who served in World War II.
He was a charter member of the Heart of Dixie Sportsman’s Club. He retired from the West Point Pepperrell Fairfax Mill as Department Manager of the Finishing Department.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, participating in field trials, horse shows, and gardening.
