Morrell Dee Jamison

Morrell Dee Jamison, “Big M”, died peacefully at McKay Dee Hospital on Thursday, January 28, 2016 in Ogden, Utah at the age of 81 after battling cancer for almost 6 years.

Morrell was born on May 16, 1934 in Preston, Idaho where he grew up. He graduated from Preston Idaho High School and proceeded to serve 2 years in the US Army in the 246th Field Artillery Missile Battalion. After the army he moved to Utah and graduated with a Diploma in Barbering. It was while attending Barber School that he met his eternal sweetheart Neva Madsen. They eloped to Elko, Nevada in 1960 and were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple in 1963.

Morrell loved being a barber. He retired after 40 years of barbering at Dick’s Barber Shop in Ogden, Utah. It was there that he met just about everyone living in Ogden. His children say that they couldn’t go anywhere without dad spending time talking to someone he knew from the barbershop. He was an avid gardener and spent a lot of time keeping his yard and garden in top shape. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was a very loving husband, father and grandfather to eight grandchildren he adored.

Morrell is survived by his wife Neva Jamison and children Patrick (Janet) Jamison, DaNae Jamison, Jill (Russ) Terry and Julette (Brian) Humphreys. He is also survived by brothers Darmon (Darlene) Jamison, William Lorry (Alma) Jamison, Don (Claudia) Jamison, John Mark (Margaret) Jamison and sister Melba Walton (Merrill) Clark. He is preceded in death by his parents, Hazen and Barta Jamison and sister Joan (Doug) Schenk.
