Montana “Monty” James Schany 60 of Graettinger. Montana “Monty” James Schany , son of Richard and Bettie Marie (Martinson) Schany was born April 29, 1960 in Emmetsburg, Iowa. He graduated from Graettinger High School in 1978. Monty was united in marriage to Jennifer Tatman in 1985 and they were blessed with Lindsay, Kass and Madisen. In 2004 he married Laurie Veroven and they were blessed with Ryan. Monty was the owner of MonKass Construction and Schany Trucking. Prior to that he worked for Schany Construction for several years. Monty loved spending time watching his children play sports and spending time with family and friends. He loved chocolate cake, Busch Light and enjoyed Taco House. Monty was known as a very hard worker and was only a phone call away. He would help anyone in need at any time they needed it. Monty was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and loved going to Lambeau Field. Monty served, as he liked to say, As the “Honorable” Mayor of Graettinger. He will always be remembered as a person who could get anyone to react to his unique personality (in other words piss you off) and the self proclaimed “Nicest Guy in Graettinger” On August 19, 2020 Montana “Monty” James Schany died at the Palo Alto Community Hospital In Emmetsburg, Iowa. He is survived by his children: daughter, Lindsay (Dave) Henningsen and their children Avery & Evan of Ruthven, IA son Kass (Anaya) Schany of Kent, Washington, daughter Madisen (Carter) Williamson and their children Bentley and Blair of Ruthven, IA, and son Ryan Schany currently deployed but of Ankeny, special friend and her son Cassy & Tayden Micek. He is also survived by his father Richard Schany of Graettinger and siblings: Bruce (Sherry) Schany, Kelly (Carol) Schany, Shawn (Liz) Schany and Tonya (Mark) Feldhacker. Monty is preceded in death by his mother Bettie Marie, nephew Bryce Schany and sister-in-law Ruth Ritchey.
