BAKERVILLE/NEW HARTFORD –DISTIN – Mona “Sandi” Distin, 66, passed away on Monday, February 9, 2009. She was the loving wife of the late Robert E. Distin, Sr., for 23 years until he passed away in 2007. Born June 20, 1942 in Hartford, CT; the daughter of the late Raymond and Irene (Ivens) Sprague. Sandi spent the first 13 years of her life growing up in North Kingstown, RI. She then moved to West Hartford and later New Hartford, where she started and operated with her husband’s help Lucky Acres Herb Farm. She also managed her husband’s business “Bob’s Trucking.” Sandi was also a member of the 4H. She is survived by three sons, Stephen Colpitts and his wife Charlene of Simsbury, Lincoln Colpitts and his wife Kim of Naugatuck and Raymond Markwas of New Hartford; her step-children, Robert E. Distin Jr. and his wife Cindy of Colebrook, Ronald M. Distin and his wife Johnna of North Canaan, Terry Mooney of Winsted and Sabrina Aldrich and her husband Norman of Torrington; three sisters, Susan Shuhi and her husband James of Torrington, Bonnie Sprague of Cromwell and Darlene Fullerton and her husband Dave of Montrose, CO; 12 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves her longtime friend, Ruth Merriman of Terryville.
