May 6, 1929- February 17, 2016

Mollie Wray H. Child passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on February 17, 2016. Mollie was born to Wray and Marie Henry Harbison on May 6, 1929.

She was raised in Ogden during the Great Depression, which greatly shaped her attitudes and outlook on life. After graduating from Ogden High in 1947, she worked at Sun Valley Resort, which was an experience she spoke of fondly. She also enjoyed working at the Egyptian Theater, where she met and fell in love with Jack Child. They married January 14, 1950 in Evanston, Wyoming, and later solemnized their vows in the Logan Temple in December 1964.

After they married, Mollie, Jack and his parents owned and operated the Lazy U motel in Kemmerer, Wyoming for ten fun-filled years. From Kemmerer, Mollie and Jack moved to Riverdale, Utah, where they planted firm roots and raised their three children.

Mollie was an active member of the LDS church. She served in many callings including Scouting, Young Women’s president, Relief Society president, and on the Stake Primary Board. She has been involved in a variety of community organizations. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, Riverdale Ladies’ Club, and a charter member of the Young at Heart Dolls Club.

She enjoyed sewing, making quilts, ceramics, porcelain dolls, gardening, cooking, and entertaining. She enjoyed time with friends and family. After retirement, she and Jack traveled extensively, wintering in Arizona.

Mollie is survived by her husband, Jack Child; son, Curt (Julie) Child; daughter, Traci Kelson; sisters, Zaila Tait and Renee Porter; seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Brad (Liz) Child; her parents; and five siblings, Nyra Harbison, Belle Dowd, Drew Harbison, Neil Harbison, and Naida Comish.
