Mitchell Olin Galloway died on January 3, 2015 after a stay in the hospital in Newnan. He was born in Hosford, Florida June 28, 1928, the son of Jessie Olin Galloway and Velma Mitchell. He moved to Atlanta after graduating early from high school and began work with Delta Air Lines at the age of 17. His time with Delta was interrupted by a time in the Army during the Korean War. He returned to the finance department at Delta where he remained during a 42 year tenure, ending up as a company officer serving as the Senior Vice President of Finance.

While working, he attended and graduated from Georgia State University, where he later received a distinguished alumnus award. He married Doris Marilyn Pollard and had two sons. He was always active in the church, often lending his financial skills to the work of the congregation. He was involved at Lakewood Heights Baptist Church in south Atlanta and Dogwood Hills Baptist Church in East Point where he served as a deacon. He became an Episcopalian at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Atlanta.

He lent his financial expertise on the Episcopal Foundation of the Diocese of Atlanta. Before retiring from Delta, he and his wife moved to Newnan, Georgia, where they were both active at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. He enjoyed the game of golf and took time to introduce his sons to the vagaries of that inexorable fate. He was a member of the Georgia-Alabama Golf Association and could be found regularly in tournaments sponsored by the group. When his wife became ill, he devoted his life to her care for 15 years, constantly tending to her well-being. She died this past February. He is survived by his two sons, David and Mitch, their wives, Mary and Cathy, and his six grandchildren, Thomas, Emily, Annie, Mary Glen, Gracie, and John.
