Milton L. Knolhoff, 91, of Centralia passed away Monday, May 4, 2015 at Centralia Manor Nursing Home in Centralia. He was born February 29, 1924 in Hoffman, IL, son of Edward and Martha (Reinkensmeyer) Knolhoff. He married Lucille M. Heseman in 1947 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in New Minden, Illinois and she survives.
He is also survived by three sons: Curtis Knolhoff and wife Janet of Collinsville, Larry Knolhoff and wife Kathy of Maryland, Bruce Knolhoff and wife Linda of Centralia; one daughter Melissa Sondag and husband Michael of Webster Groves, Missouri; Two Brothers Reinhard Knolhoff and wife Bernice and Norman Knolhoff and wife Lucille of Hoffman; one sister Rosina Woker of New Minden; Brother-in-law Orville Heseman of Hoyleton. Ten Grandchildren: Norman Knolhoff and wife Katrina, Courtney Hay and Husband Sean, Erynn Molina and husband Robert, Kimberly Jaoko and husband Moses, Lauren Van Hoy and husband Scott, Justin Knolhoff and wife Jackie, Josh Knolhoff and wife Julia, and Nicholas, Rachael and Hannah Sondag., Twelve Great-Grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Milton was preceded in death by his parents, Three sisters: Leona Haake, Quinta Brammeier, Delores Cramer, One Grandson: Adam Knolhoff; One Granddaughter: Andrea Tate.He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church where he served as Chairman of the Congregation, Board of Elders, Board of Trustees and sang in the church choir. He graduated from Carlyle High School, May 30, 1942. He was a World War II Veteran serving aboard the USS Radford Destroyer in the Navy. He was a member of the American Legion Post #446. Mr. Knolhoff operated Knolhoff standard station in Centralia for over 30 years. After his retirement he enjoyed woodworking mastering the art of Intarsia which he displayed in the Centralia and St. Louis areas.
