Milton E. Switzer, 75, of Route 38 Emlenton, Richland Twp. Venango County, went home to be with his Lord and Savior at 11:50 PM Monday, July 27, 2009 at UPMC Northwest in Seneca following a courageous battle with cancer.

Mr. Switzer was born on June 5, 1934 in Knox. He was the son of the late Walter “Peck” and Gussie Reed Switzer.

Mr. Switzer was an avid hunter and fisherman and especially enjoyed trapping and coon hunting. He always looked forward to the company of his family, especially his grandchildren at the Family Wiener Roasts at his home.

Mr. Switzer was a Long-Time active member of the Old Zion United Methodist Church, where he served as a trustee and Sunday School Superintendent for many years. He retired after 39 years of service with the Quaker State Refining Corp. in Emlenton. He sold Nightcrawlers from his home for many years , and he received many compliments from the area’s fishermen, that his bait was the best. Mr. Switzer was a veteran of the US Navy, having served from 1953 to 1957. Mr. Switzer graduated in 1952 from White Memorial Highschool in Knox. In his Youth, Mr. Switzer was a boy scout and had received the eagle scout award.

Mr. Switzer was married in Knox on June 10, 1954 to the former Wilda E. Johnson, she survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Vicky Heller and her husband Joe, of Knox. Cindy Mealey and her husband Rick of Leeper, and Bonny Gold and her husband Denny, of Franklin. Five Grandchildren survive, Jason Edinger of Clarion, Heather, and Holly Mealey, of Leeper, and Blane and Devin Gold, of Franklin. Also surviving is a brother, Ted Switzer and his wife Judy of Knox. Three Sisters in-law survive, Ruth Switzer of Knox, Mary Whitling and her husband Ray of Knox, and Betty Johnson of Cranberry. A number of nieces, nephews, and cousins survive.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter “Reek” Switzer and Ronnie Switzer, and a brother in-law, Glenn Johnson.
