Mildred Elizabeth Wise, affectionately known as “Mimi,” died on April 4, 2006. She was 94 years old. Mimi was admired by those who knew her for her strength, her sharp mind, and for the courage and perseverance she showed in difficult was born July 6, 1911 in Neosho, Missouri, the oldest of George and Jennie Bowden’s five children. Mimi grew up in Missouri and Amarillo, Texas. She graduated from Amarillo High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Arjorie Wise, in Amarillo. They had six was a long-time resident of San Antonio and Austin, where she worked for the Internal Revenue Service for many years. She later lived in New Braunfels. Mimi loved to play bridge and was a member of the Nekodah Temple of the Daughters of the is survived by her siblings, Hazel Mashburn of New Braunfels, Dorothy Ludeman of Amarillo, George Bowden, Jr. of Chula Vista, California and Bobby Bowden of Beaumont, Texas. She is also survived by her children, Wanda McCabe of San Antonio, Barbara Garms of Dallas, Dale Wise of Fremont, California, Dan Wise of Bandera, Sue Archibald of Austin, and Debbie Lyda of Allen, Texas. Mimi’s legacy also includes 21 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
