Mildred Windham Gilbert

July 24, 1942 – May 23, 2011

Mildred Dean Windham Gilbert of Sheridan, Arkansas was born July 24, 1942 in Sheridan, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Hill and Edna Cullins Windham. She was a member ofPhiladelphia Missionary Baptist Church in Prattsville. She was an excellent and creative seamstress and cook, enjoyed camping and spending time with all her family. Working with the elderly was a special joy of hers while she worked for the Grant County Senior Citizens Center driving the meals on wheels truck and later as a van driver. Her grandsons and granddaughter were her pride and joy and she loved them with all her heart. They gave her special joy every time she heard them call her Mamaw.

Mrs. Gilbert died Monday, May 23, 2011 at Sheridan Healthcare and Rehab Center at the age of 68.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Roy Mitchell Windham and Tommy Windham.

Survivors are husband of 51 years, Harvey Gilbert, daughter Tracy and husband David Brown; Son, Michael and wife Pam Gilbert, and daughter Tina and husband Bob McCurry all of Sheridan. She was blessed with six grandsons and one granddaughter, Brent Leopard, Brad (Heather) Leopard of Sheridan, Jessica (Matt) Camp of Prattsville, Colton Gilbert, Chase Gilbert, Riley McCurry and Hunter McCurry all of Sheridan. Great grandchildren, Kameran Massey, Jarah Leopard, Blake Leopard, Makenlie Camp, Damien Lopes and Phillip Thayer. A sister, Georgia Lankford of Sheridan and a sisters in law, Florene Windham of Port Lavaca, Texas and Sue Windham of Greenwood, Arkansas. She is also survived by her cousins from the Cullins family and loving brothers and sisters in law from the Gilbert family, many nieces, nephews and cousins and her special K-9 babies, Sadie and Charlie.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to Grant County in Home Services, Sheridan Healthcare and Rehab Center and its compassionate staff and Arkansas Hospice.
