Mildred “Millie” Rechenmacher Gorman, 86, of Naples, Florida and Wheaton, Illinois and most recently Nashville, Tennessee, died peacefully on July 16.Heaven is now a richer place-we also anticipate that within a few days it will be even cleaner and better run. Millie was born in Naperville, Illinois, one of 12 children. It was from this wonderful family that Mom learned to be a great wife and mother. Millie and our Dad, Bob Gorman fell in love and in 1950 began a marriage that lasted 64 ½ years. In the time before permanent press, no-wax floors, and disposable diapers, Mom kept the house immaculate and loved each of her five kids in a special way. She was a matriarch and role model with strong values and unselfish devotion to family. None of us remembers an impatient word. Once we were all in school, Mom became a top-producing residential real estate agent for Baird and Warner in Wheaton. In 1976 Mom and Dad bought three La-Z-Boy furniture stores, partnering with their oldest son, Richard (Dick) and their youngest son, John. In 2006, Mom and Dad retired to Wilderness Country Club in Naples, Florida. They were devoted to one another and loved their children, delighted in their grandchildren and their three great grand-children were special gifts. Dad died on June 11th. Never one to keep Dad waiting, it’s not a surprise that Mom joined him so soon.We know that Mom and Dad’s reunion must have been wonderful, as they were also reunited with son, Richard (Dick) Gorman; grandchildren, Julia Duncker and Rudy Gorman; and son-in-law, Tom Hazinski and other family who predeceased them.Mom will be missed by daughters, Mary Fran Hazinski (Ames) Davis and Barb (Richard “Bo”) Travis; sons, Robert (Kathy) Gorman and John (Nelfa) Gorman; daughter-in-law, Connee Cowan Gorman; grandchildren, Michael (Stephanie) Hazinski, Matthew (Erinn) Duncker, Alyssa and Remy Gorman, Nick and Joe Gorman and Maya (Chris) Hofacker; great-grandchildren, Lucy, Tommy, and Max; sisters, Helen Donahue, Bea (Bob) Bremmer and Sr. Anne Rechenmacher; and brothers, Joe (Ester) and Al Rechenmacher; sister-in-law, Dorothy (George) Fyock and the many nieces, nephews and cousins who loved her dearlyOur family is very grateful to Dr. James Powers at Vanderbilt and Dr. Marta Crispens, Bonnie Kish and the staff at the Vanderbilt Ingram Cancer Center, the wonderful caregivers of Senior Helpers and Alive Hospice, Father Dexter at Christ the King Catholic Church and the staff at Brookdale Green Hills Cumberland Senior Living.
