Mrs. Mildred Reynolds Edwards, 97, resident of Kings Grant, Martinsville, VA died Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at Kings Grant. Mrs. Edwards was born on July 19, 1913 in Chatham, VA, a daughter of the late Charlie W. and Elsie M. Reynolds. On December 23, 1933 Mildred married George Oliver Edwards to whom she remained marred until his death on June 14, 1992. For over 60 years she had been a resident of the Collinsville/Martinsville area and was retired from the U. S. Postal Service in Stanleytown, VA with 30 years of service. Mrs. Edwards was an extremely active member of First Baptist Church of Collinsville and served on various committees within the church. For over 10 years she was a volunteer at The Oliver and Mildred Edwards Adult Day Care Center of Martinsville and Henry County. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by siblings, Carson Reynolds, Blanche Grindstaff, Lois R. Smith and William (Mac) Reynolds. Surviving is one son, Ray W. Edwards and wife, Sallie of High Point, NC; 3 grandchildren, Chris Edwards and wife, Susan of Belews Creek, NC, Suzanne Brammer and husband, Chuck of High Point, NC and Jay Twitty and wife Amy of San Clemente, CA; 7 great-grandchildren, Courtney Brammer, Hunter Brammer, Mackenzie Edwards, Madison Edwards, Grant Edwards, Ford Twitty and Knox Twitty. Mrs. Edwards loved her nieces and nephews as if they were her own – Charles Grindstaff, Burton Grindstaff, Bill Grindstaff, Jim Grindstaff, Rodney Reynolds, Tommy Reynolds, Andy Reynolds, Jeff Reynolds, Harold Smith, Glenn Edwards, Steve Edwards, Michael Parrish, Sandra Johnson and Tracy Newby.
