Mildred Lucille Strother, 89, of Wilsonburg passed away Sunday, March 27, 2011 at United Hospital Center following an extended illness. She was born March 4, 1922 in Braxton County the daughter of the late Joseph Malcomb and Minnie Rowan Malcomb. She was preceded in death by her husband John H. Strother whom she married in 1949. Mrs. Strother is survived by two sons; John H. Strother, Jr. and wife Shirley of Quiet Dell, WV and Timothy A. Strother and wife Mary Johnston of Springfield, VA; one daughter; Pamela J. Thomas and husband Paul “Eddie” of Wilsonburg, WV; five grandchildren; Joseph Thomas of Clarksburg, Jillian Clark of Clarksburg, Megan Strother of Myrtle Beach, SC, Stephanie Strother of Burke, VA and Jennifer Johnston of Springfield, VA and seven great grandchildren; two brothers; Calvin Malcomb of Ohio and Elbert Malcomb of Virginia Beach, VA; two sisters; Marie Fowler of Deleware and Ruby Malcomb of Virginia Beach, VA. She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. Mrs. Strother was retired from the Harrison County Board of Education where she worked as a School Cook.
