Mildred Erpelding, age 88 of Burt, passed away Saturday, August 7, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family. Mildred Catherine Erpelding was born on December 27, 1932 to Florian and Martha (Elsbecker) Hellman in Bancroft. She graduated from St. John’s High School in 1950 and attended Tobin Business College in Ft. Dodge. On June 18, 1957 she was united in marriage to Francis John Erpelding at St. John’s Catholic Church in Bancroft. Mildred and Francis lived and farmed near Burt. She was employed at Iowa State Bank and the Kossuth Co. Treasurer’s Office but her primary job was homemaker and mom and she took great pride in raising her family. Mildred was a member of St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona and the Friendly Four Club. She enjoyed following the Minnesota Twins, Hawkeye basketball, playing cribbage and 500, her flowerbeds, quilting and sewing, going for rides, and spending lots of time with family. She is survived by her children: Linda (Dave) Salz of West Des Moines and their children Jason (Sarah) and Heather (Kyle Fine), Betty (James) Underwood of Des Moines, Tom Erpelding of Burt, Gary (Stacy) Erpelding of Bode and their children Joseph, Bradley and Brandon, Nancy (Bob) Quade of Mason City and their children Eric, Kelly (Tyler) Kent and their son Hayden, and Emily and Kay (Dwight) Bruns of Hanlontown and their children Justin and Cody (Kathryn Flaherty); a brother, Bill Hellman of Bancroft; sisters, Sr.Lila Hellman of Dubuque; Evelyn (Alfred) Julius of Bancroft and JoAnn Hellman of Bancroft; a brother-in-law, Gerald (Helen) Erpelding of Waukee and a sister-in-law, Marguerite (Frank) Brcka of Plymouth. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Francis; son, Randy; a brother, Gerald Hellman and sister, Agnes Foertsch. The Lentz Funeral Home of Algona is serving the family.
