Mildred Eley Ingram, 95, died peacefully on September 29, 2008, of congestive heart failure at Piedmont-Newnan Hospital. She had lived independently at Wesley Woods of Newnan since 2000.

Born on September 29, 1913, she grew up during the Depression on a cotton farm near Winder, GA She graduated from Georgia Baptist School of Nursing in 1937 and did private duty nursing until her marriage to Charles Jackson Ingram of McDonough, GA in 1939. She and her husband, a pilot for Delta Air Lines, traveled extensively throughout the United States.

She lived in Hapeville and East Point, GA, Coral Gables, FL. and College Park, GA while raising their three daughters. In the mid 50s Mrs. Ingram returned to her nursing profession by going to work at the Georgian Clinic, an early treatment facility for alcoholics which was subsequently incorporated into the Georgian Mental Health Institute.

When she retired from GMHI in 1977, she moved to Forest Park, GA where she became active in Ash Street Baptist Church, traveled extensively with the Young at Heart Club, and renewed her passion for gardening.

She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, photography, the Atlanta Braves and needlework. Although retired, she continued to use her nursing skills to care for people throughout her life. Most of all, she loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. Survivors include her daughters; Charlotte Jackson of Douglasville, Ga, Louise Ingram of Arlington, VA and Gail (spouse John) of Conley, GA.

She had four grandchildren; Alan (spouse Anjellica) Guthrie of Tyrone, GA, Jeff (Spouse Amanda) Jackson of Lake City, GA, Jennifer Guthrie of Conley, GA and Jason Guthrie of Peachtree City, GA. She had one great grandson, Ian Guthrie of Tyrone. She is also survived by three sisters and one brother. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends.
