Mildred Bowen Carter, whose age shall not be disclosed, passed away February 6, 2024. She is predeceased by the following loved ones; her parents, Walter and Katie Bowen; J.C. Patterson, Sr., William Earl Carter; John Lewis Russell; 2 sisters, Eula Wells and Inez Holland; and daughter-in-law, Marcia Collins Patterson.Mildred was a woman of faith who has gone home to be with the Lord. She was a secretary at First Baptist Church on Main Street to Pastor J.C. Mitchell, and a secretary at Raymond O. Brown Business Machines. She retired in 2008 as Deputy Commissioner of Revenue in Suffolk. Her hobbies included shopping at QVC, Belks, and Walmarts.She is survived by her 2 sons, J.C. Patterson (Holly) and C. Stephen Patterson of Suffolk; 3 grandchildren, Justin Coty Patterson, Meagan Elizabeth Patterson, and Lauren Katherine Patterson; and a sister, Linda Yawn.
