Milan (Mile) Vukosavljevic, 92, passed away peacefully Saturday evening in his home surrounded by family.
Milan was born on September 8, 1921 in Drljace, Yugoslavia to Dusan And Ana (Saponja) Vukosavljevic
He married Renate Simmat of Solingen, Germany on January 20, 1962.
She survives along with five children, Ann (Doug) Schultz of Dublin, Ohio; Jim (Lisa) Rhoads of Wabash, Indiana; Angela Roll of Elkhart; Daniela (Rolando) Ortiz of Goshen; Marianne (Ken) Gingerich of Middlebury; Eight grandchildren (Jeff, Amber, Griffin, Landon, Eric, Madison, Alaina and Nick); five great grandchildren ( Amaya, Aidyn, Grant, Anderson, Kate) and his brother in law, Janko Zmijanac of Serbia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters (Sara and Slavka) and a brother, Mirko.
Milan was a WWII Veteran. He immigrated to the United States on the ship, USS United States, from Hamburg, Germany to New York and then by train to Elkhart, Indiana with his first wife Hannelore and daughter Ann and carrying son Jim. Milan proudly gained his United States citizenship February 18,1970 in South Bend, Indiana.
He retired from Federal Paper Board in 1974 after 18 years. He was an avid outdoor sportsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing and teaching those skills to his children and grandchildren. Milan enjoyed bringing his family together each fall to make wine in the “old world” way. He loved gardening and tending to his little orchard he created.
