Michael Joseph “Mike” Craig, the son of Leo Joseph and Margaret Josephine Jones Craig, was born on September 20, 1955 in Newton, Iowa. He was a graduate of Newton High School in 1973.
Mike had worked for Progress Industries. He was a member of UAW Local 997 and had been a union steward. He enjoyed playing guitar, singing, reading, watching movies and all sports. Mike was a fun loving and caring son, brother, uncle, nephew and friend.
Mike died on Friday, November 3, 2017, at the Skiff Medical Center in Newton. He was 62. He was preceded in death by his father, Leo J. Craig and brother-in-law, Tim Owens. Those left to honor Mike’s memory are his mother, Margy Craig of Newton; siblings, Bob (Peg Wolff) Craig of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Debby Petersen of Prairie City, Nancy (Mickey) Owens-Munley of Grinnell and Conny (Theron) Schutte of Marshalltown; his ten nieces and nephews, Alicia (Cory) Blankenfeld, Jacob (Maggie) Owens, Katie Petersen, Sarah Owens (Matt), Marie (John) Feehan, Jared Owens, Anna Petersen (Paul), Matthew Petersen (Kayla), Abby (Joe) Kozak and Maggi (Matt) Meyer; eleven great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
