DURHAM Mickey Wendell Ellis, 85 yrs. old, born April 20 1933, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 30th 2018 surrounded by his granddaughter Shannon Ellis Baldwin, who is a special nurse and helped take care of him, and loved ones.Mickey was born and raised in Durham, NC. He was son of the late Charlie Wendell Ellis and Allene Fletcher Ellis. He was a prominent citizen of the Oak Grove Community and long-standing member of the Oak Grove Ruritan Club. He attended the Gospel Center Church. Some of his favorite pass times were hunting, fishing, weed eating, and being surrounded by the younger members of his family. He would always look forward to hunting season, he could go with his son, nephews, and friends. He loved teaching and taking his grandkids, nieces, and nephews fishing. There were not many summer days that he wasn’t in his garden or didn’t have a weed eater in his hand. He prided himself on having the best garden and the best lawn in the neighborhood. He was a true serviceman of the community. But his greatest joy and love came from the love he had for his family. He would often tell people that he had the best four sisters around. Nothing made him happier than spending time with his family, son, daughter, sisters, and all the grandbabies. He was known as everyone’s Papa is preceded in death by his wife Miranda Ray Ellis and son Michael Bryan EllisHe is survived by his son Timothy Ray Ellis, wife Teresa, Daughter Rose Ellis Drake, husband Zac, his 4 sisters, Yvonne Overton, Rosita Andrews, Delores Carter, Loretta Hagan, husband Donald. Daughter-in-law Bonnie Ellis. Grandchildren, Sherry Ellis, Shannon Baldwin, T.J. Ellis, April Drake and Zac Drake III, Maggie, Katie and Michael Bryan Ellis, Jr., and Garland Purser. 10 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and Special friends, Denise Hibbard and Jamie Burcham.m.
