My mom, Michelle Marie Madison (Castor) came into the world on July 9th, 1955 to Jake and Edith Castor of McCloud, California. McCloud is a small town at the base of Mount Shasta, a snow-covered dormant volcano. She absolutely loved Mount Shasta. She always wanted a little cabin close to it to call home.
In her younger years, she moved with her parents and two older sisters, Elaine and Geri, to the Sacramento area. She had two nieces, but I call them her sisters because they were close in age, Kim and Pam and a nephew Eric. My mom told me that they would play cowboys and Indians together. They had so much fun. My mom graduated Foothills High in 1974.
Not too long after, she met my dad, Jake Madison at a party. My dad told me he saw my mom and was like “hey baby”, that still makes me laugh. My mom said hey and that was it. On December 26th, 1977, they married in Reno, Nevada. They wore bell bottom jeans, my mom in a t shirt and my dad in a t shirt and a jean jacket. On December 11th, 1979, I (Tisha Nicole Madison) entered the world.
Growing up, my mom was fun and loving. She always read to me at night and would rub my head to make me feel better. She gave the best head rubs. We would do arts and crafts and she even made me a road with little houses and stores drawn on the paper for my hot wheel cars. She taught me how to cross stitch. One of her favorite past times.
On August 25th, 1998 she lost the love of her life, my dad, Jake Madison. She learned a lot about herself after he died. She learned Buddhism and spirituality and practiced it till she passed. In the process of learning about herself, she found out that she loved tattoos. She got about 7 or 8 of them. The best tattoo she got that people loved was the little purple star on her left temple. I asked her why she got it, she said why not.
Over the years, my mom got into doll collecting. All kinds of dolls, vintage dolls, barbies, cabbage patch kids, lol, Bratz. Dolls were her passion. And she absolutely loved playing Fortnite and Minecraft with her 3 grandkids, Jake, Ian and Reaghan. She would be on most nights playing Fortnite. My mom would be so happy when she won a battle.
Michelle Marie Madison passed away October 26, 2021. It was unexpected. My mom will be missed so much. She brought joy to everyone she met. I know she is looking down on us. I love you mom.
