Michal Larry Holcomb, after ten long years battling cancer, transitioned from his Earthly life on 01/25/2022 in Huntsville, Alabama at the age of 79.

Mike is survived by his wife, Kay Holcomb, his eldest son Scott Holcomb, his daughter in law April Holcomb of Collierville, Tennessee, and his granddaughter, Isabella Holcomb of Collierville, Tennessee as well as his youngest son Steve Holcomb of Hunstville, Alabama. He is preceded in death by his parents Benjamin and Doris Holcomb of Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Mike was born on 10/09/1942 in Grinell, Iowa to Benjamin and Doris Holcomb. He graduated from Athens State Community College in 1992 with a Bachelor’s degree. In the late 1960s during the Vietnam war, while stationed in Bangkok, Thailand, Mike met and later married Kay, a teacher in Bangkok for several years. Mike and Kay traveled the world together as Mike lived the life of a professional soldier in the U.S. Army (retired) and then U.S. Government Civil Service (retired) and Kay as the devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. Mike enjoyed traveling, woodworking, building, and spending time with his children and grandchild.     

Mike spent years proudly serving in the U.S. Army/Military in Active Duty as well as Civil Service at numerous duty stations and serving in two campaigns. He was always eager to help any of his friends in need and strived to provide for his family.
