Mike passed away peacefully at home on December 15, 2017, following his battle with cancer. He was born in Lincoln, Nebraska on May 18, 1947.

Mike primarily worked in the construction industry, for both large and small companies. While working for Peter Kiewit Construction, Mike was sent in advance to set up the project office in Valdez, Alaska, for construction of the Alaskan Pipeline.

In 1968, Mike and another veteran established a Veteran’s Club at the College of Southern Idaho. Mike donated blood throughout his life and promoted blood drives while in school, encouraging fellow students and friends to participate. For several years he translated books into Braille. Mike was an advocate for people’s rights.

Mike met his wife, Connie, when she was nineteen and he was twenty-eight. They dated in the 1970s and again in the 1980s. When they reconnected in 2007, the time was finally right, and they married July 25, 2008. The most important thing to Mike was family and friends.

Mike is survived by his wife, Connie McCurdy; sister, Margaret Sinclair; brother, Pat McCurdy; nephew, Justin (Andrea) Bailey; niece, Lara (Barry) Lewis; niece, Christen McCurdy; and nephew, Jacob McCurdy. Mike was preceded in death by his father, Emmett (Mac) McCurdy, and his mother, Laura McCurdy.
