Michael Somers, 57, of Spirit Lake passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, March 30, 2021. Michael was born on July 22, 1963 to Glenn Leslie and Lois Arlene (Stegemann) Somers. He graduated from Arnold’s Park high School and earned his associates degree in Mechanics. He worked for 30 plus years as a mechanic for Great Lakes Toyota in Spirit Lake. He also worked for a short time as a bartender at the Marquee in Spirit Lake. In his free time, he enjoyed pheasant hunting and golfing. He enjoyed sporting events and cheering on his teams, the Iowa Hawkeyes, and Dallas Cowboys. He is survived by his sister Shari (Jeff) Nichols of Spirit Lake; nieces Lori Thompson, Amy Hansen, Jenny Utterback, Autumn Petska and Nephews Cody Petska, Michael Petska; great nieces and nephews Jonathon Osborn, Melaney Thompson, James Hansen, Spencer Matthews, Monte Matthews, Brady Clausen, Katelyn Clausen, and Madelynn Utterback. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Sandy and a nephew Jon Osborn.
