Michael Sandusky, 61, of Elkhart, died at 12:30 p.m. Friday (July 3, 2009) in Eastlake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after an extended illness.

He was born March 16, 1948, in South Bend to Clyde W. and Zoe (McNamara) Sandusky.

He is survived by two sons, Michael Sandusky and Todd (Stephanie) Sandusky, both of Elkhart; one granddaughter, Naomi Sandusky, at home; one sister, Judith “Judy” Butler of Elkhart; three nephews, Chris, Brad and Brett Butler, all of Elkhart; close friends Jim and Korene Turner of Elkhart; and his former wife, Sandra K. Sandusky of Elkhart.

Mr. Sandusky was a driver for the Ace Cab Co. of Elkhart for several years until his health required his early retirement. He was a member of Elkhart DAV Chapter 19, VFW Post 88 and Elkhart Moose Lodge 599. He loved playing cards, including poker, and was an avid Notre Dame fan. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and served in the U.S. Air Force as an MP at Charleston AFB, Charleston, S.C.
