Michael Ray “Mike” Chadwell, age 76, of U. S. 60 East, Morehead, passed away Saturday, March 20, 2021, at Baptist Health in Louisville.
Born February 26, 1945, in Rowan County, he was the son of the late Earl Freeman Chadwell and Lila Pettit Chadwell. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Larry David Chadwell and an infant sister, Eva Jane Chadwell. His wife of 54 years, Helen Rae Bocook Chadwell, preceded him in death on May 30, 2020.
Mike is survived by one son, Michael David Chadwell of Louisville; one brother, Ronnie Chadwell and wife Patsy of Morehead; two sisters, Patricia Austin of Fairhope, Alabama, and Brenda Kenley and husband Howard of Georgetown; and brother-in-law, Sid Stewart of West Liberty.
Other survivors include three nieces, Jennifer Parsons and husband Terron of Fairhope, Alabama, Cindy Vermilion and husband Ed of Louisville and Anna Laura Stewart of West Liberty; five nephews, Patrick Chadwell and wife Joanna of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Shawn Chadwell and wife Miriam of Brighton, Colorado, Jonathan Austin and wife Carrie of Leander, Texas, Brian Austin and wife Carol of Daphne Alabama and John Stewart and wife Doshia of Indianapolis, Indiana; eight great nieces, Mikayla Faith Austin, Dominique Elizabeth Austin, Kathryn Rose, Audrey Claire, Ava Elora, Vada Ivey Parsons, Catherine Stewart and Isabelle Stewart; and five great nephews, Noah Fredrick Chadwell, Leland James Chadwell, Noah Summerfield Austin, Joshua Trace Austin, and Duncan Vermilion.
Mike was an employee of Pack’s Inc. in Morehead, working primarily as a certified welder and truck driver. He loved horseback riding and competitive trail riding. He was a founding member of Daniel Boone Distance Riders and was a member of AERC.
