Michael “Mike” Henry Olejarz, Jr., age 79, passed away Thursday, September 28, 2017 at his home in Haymarket, VA of congestive heart failure. During his 36 year career with the Central Intelligence Agency, Mike served as Operations Officer and Instructor. His assignments included tours in South America and numerous temporary posting throughout the world. Mike was awarded the prestigious Intelligence Commendation Medal for his outstanding service. Prior to his CIA career, Mike served four years in the Marine Corps. He was chosen to serve at the Marine Barracks 8th l, Washington, DC, where his duties included providing security for President Eisenhower. He was then assigned to the Marine Security Detachment in Montevideo, Uruguay. Mike was a graduate of George Washington University with a degree in Latin American studies. In retirement he enjoyed his family, traveling, reading and genealogical research. Mike was born on June 12, 1938 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Michael H. Olejarz, Sr. and Wanda Mary (Kriston) Olejarz. Survivors include Mike’s loving wife of 55 years, Paula Olejarz of Haymarket, VA; two children: Mona Lisa M. Olejarz-Traina and husband Charles Joseph Traina of Centreville, VA and Michael J. Olejarz and wife Joan M. Olejarz of Winchester, VA; two grandchildren: Amanda Cecilia Olejarz and Michael Vincent Olejarz both of Winchester, VA; one brother: James Olejarz of Charlottesville, VA and four cousins.
