Michael Joseph Gordon, “Mick,” passed away peacefully surrounded by family on 01/08/2017. He was born in Central City, Nebraska 9/27/1941. He lived in Cedar Rapids, Nebraska until completing high school. He then moved to Grand Island, Nebraska where he began working for the Bureau of Reclamation as a surveyor, later a hydrologic technician. From 1964 to 1966, he served his country in the US Army at Ft. Riley, Kansas and in Vietnam. He then returned to his employment with the US Bureau of Reclamation. He and his family moved to Loveland, Colorado when he signed on to the Big Thompson project. He retired in 1993.
He met his wife Donna in 1994. They were married in 2004 in Fort Collins, Colorado and moved to Sahuarita, Arizona where they lived for seven years. In 2011, they returned to Colorado, settling in Centennial.
He was preceded in death by parents, Ray and Betty Gordon, survived by wife Donna; children Leah Gordon of Scottsdale, Arizona and Ryan Gordon (Jen) of Fort Collins, Colorado. Granddaughter Sammie Gordon of Fort Collins. Stepchildren are Ross Graham (Jen) of Manassas, Virginia, Ryan Graham (Cynthia) of Lexington Park, Maryland, Heather Svaldi (Jacob) of Highlands Ranch, Colorado. Step-grandchildren are Caitlyn, Robert, Isabelle Graham, Anthony, Meghan and Keira Svaldi; sister Trish Johnson of Lincoln and two brothers, Doug of Grand Island and Dan (Mary) of Omaha; nieces and nephews Christine (Adam) Barth, John (Laura) Gordon, Michael Gordon all of Omaha and Eric (Megan) Johnson, Lincoln; aunts Marge Rundell of Longmont, CO and Bobbe Gordon of Omaha and a multitude of loving cousins. He is also survived by his loyal companion Bessie, a west highland white terrier.
