Born August 25, 1967, Mike passed away unexpectedly November 3, 2015 at St. Luke’s in Boise from natural causes.
Mike was born in Pocatello, Idaho and was raised by his father, Kent Storey and then his grandparents, Mick and Haroldine Storey. In his early years he spent time at the Les Bois horse racing track tending to the racers horses and helping his father Kent Storey who was a professional jockey. He attended and graduated from Highland High School in 1985, and moved on to trade school at the Phoenix Institute of Technology at age 19 and then enlisted in the Army. Mike then got married, and had two daughters, a stepdaughter and a stepson in Boise, Idaho; later he and his wife divorced. He loved his children and often called his daughters his “Pride and Joy”. He was always young at heart and ready for some fun. He was an outdoor enthusiast and a highly ranked bowler and dart and pool player. Mike’s love of the outdoors kept him and his family at the lake almost every weekend when his girls were young.
Anything to deal with fishing, camping or boating at the lake, he was there with family and friends. Mike also loved to cook and was very good at it; his favorite food was spaghetti. Mike was a handy-man which lead him to his skills in construction work and framing most of his life.
Mike had the type of attitude that was contagious. He would always be the first to crack a joke and make everyone laugh. He was the type of guy who could make friends with just about anyone no matter where he was, and he loved his friends as much as his family. Always willing to lend a hand when he was around, Mike was a caring and kind soul. He was very protective over those who mattered most to him and always made sure the boys who were in his daughters and sister’s lives knew it, usually offering a butt kicking if they needed one. Losing him at such a young age, only 48, he will deeply be missed by his family and friends.
Mike is survived by his daughters, Miranda Storey and Crysta Storey-Griffee; stepdaughter, Jena Gray; stepson, Mac McGuire; father, Kent Storey; and stepmothers, Sallie Smith, Linda Dolph, Michelle Heinz, and Debbie Rucker; sisters, Morgan Storey and Abby Johnston; brother, Kris Storey; stepsisters, Erin Hall and Brooke Beesley; stepbrothers, Randy “Trent” Fulton and Robert “Troy” Fulton; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren and loving friends.
