Michael Joseph Griffiths, 90, passed away peacefully on December 9th, 2021 surrounded by his family. He was born December 11, 1931, in Weston, Idaho to Jesse and Bertha Griffiths.

Michael married his sweetheart, Diann Ravsten, on June 1, 1953, in the Logan Utah Temple. Soon after, he served as a private in the U.S. Army in Germany.

Michael loved music.

Michael grew up as an Idaho potato farmer and spent much of his time gardening. He hosted a massive bonfire each spring and planted a walnut tree for Diann. His family remembers the way he would meticulously peel oranges and grapefruit for them.

Michael worked for 33 years in material testing at Thiokol. His work contributed to the rocket boosters for the Thiokol Space Shuttle.

Hiking was Michael’s solace, and most trails in North Ogden have seen his boots. He gave famous wheelbarrow rides in his backyard and even took a few of the youngest grandkids up the mountain in the wheelbarrow. He loved riding his bike around town and to the top of the North Ogden Divide.

One of Michael’s favorite pastimes was just to have a good conversation. He gave freely of all he had to others and loved a simple life. He also loved a good sermon—if there wasn’t one happening, he would give one.

Michael was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings, including a mission to the southern states and as an Ogden Temple worker. Living the gospel with his family was everything to him.

Michael is preceded in death by his son Stanley Ravsten Griffiths in 1970, three sisters, two brothers, and his parents. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Diann Ravsten Griffiths, and four children: Michael Jay Griffiths (Sylvia), Sharon Moses (Buzzy), Lisa Vest (Clif), and Sharlene Maynard (Shawn), as well as 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at The Lodge at North Ogden for their loving care in Michael’s last months, as well as the staff at Inspiration Home Health.
