Michael John Yetz, 61, of Newington passed away after battling acute renal failure, February 17, 2016 at Hartford Hospital. His loving wife, family, and friends were at his side. He was the son of Lora and Salvino Yetz. He was born in Hartford, CT and lived in Newington for 19 years. He graduated Rockville High School in 1972, and obtained his associates in computer programming at Hartford Poly-Tech. He met his wife in 1980, when he asked her father to introduce him. When she shyly kissed him at the end of the date, that “sealed the deal” for him and they were married in 1983. He held computer programmer jobs for several companies, finally becoming a senior programmer-analyst at Phoenix-Home Life where they called him Thor because he could hammer out the code. Although born with spina bifida, he beat all odds and was able to walk using just a cane in his earlier life. He had such a positive look on life, always concentrating on what he could do rather than being defined by his limitations. In his youth he bowled and golfed. As his mobility lessened, he turned to other interests, programming and playing World of Warcraft. He loved the game because he could walk side by side with his wife as they explored the virtual world together. He was also a huge hockey fan until the Hartford Whalers left CT. Throughout his whole life, he had a gift for making people laugh and was a wonderful listener and advisor to his wife, family, and friends. Mike is survived by his beloved wife and soul-mate of almost 33 years, Bonnie Lynne Yetz, his daughter, Amber Renee Yetz of Worchester, MA, his sisters, Paula Begley of Newington and Peggy Howell of Derry, NH and her husband John Howell; his brother-in-law David Hagg of Mebane, NC; his nieces and nephews, Allison Stallings of Derry, NH, Michael Howell of Andover, MA, Barbara Ewing of New Haven, and Chris Begley of Newington. He also leaves behind his beloved friends Maria Cardella, her two boys (honorary nephews), Joshua and Jeremy Cardella of Tolland, John Adamson of Waterford, Jerry and Kim Ellis of Newington, and Linda Rolfe of South Windsor.
