Michael John Marshall, age 60, of Cassopolis, died early Sunday morning, August 7, 2016, in his residence.
Mike was born October 11, 1955, in Dowagiac, Michigan, the second child of John and Beth (Fosdick) Marshall.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Carolyn Ann Richer. When Mike had a passion for something he went all out and he had several passions in his short life. When he was a young man he loved to ride dirt bikes and never passed up an opportunity to pull a wheelie in front of a crowd. His next passion became remote control car racing and building all types of models.
With remote control cars, Mike was always figuring out ways to make them faster so he could beat the competition. Then came remote control airplanes. He was a natural for such a sport and even had his own landing strip. The family found it funny that he had such a love for the sport when he was petrified to fly himself. Then there was Mike’s passion for music. He taught himself to play bass guitar with a little help from friends. He loved playing any of his array of bass guitars. He invited a few guys over to jam on a Sunday afternoon and it became a Sunday ritual. If the weather was nice they would be out on his deck playing music, mostly blues. Several neighbors told Mike how much they enjoyed the music. The band got so good they named themselves “Three Legged Dog” and started playing gigs. Mike was self-employed as a handyman/carpenter and had many clients in and around the lakes, farm communities and elsewhere, and he would always do the best job possible for his clients. Even if a client was satisfied with his work, it did not matter unless it met Mike’s expectations.
Mike will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and customers. He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Brian Rose of Saint Joseph, Michigan; his brother and sister-in-law, Scott and Debbie Marshall of Savannah, Georgia.
