Michael J. Kelly, 76, of Snug Harbor section of Toms River, NJ passed away Thursday, January 7, 2016 at home. Born in Jersey City, NJ, he lived in Wood-Ridge, NJ before moving to Toms River 21 years ago. Michael was a Police Officer for Jersey City, retiring as Detective in 1991 after 26 years of service.
He was a parishioner of St. Justin RC Church, Toms River and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 4, Jersey City, the Emerald Society and the Detective Benevolent Association. Michael was predeceased by his sisters Dorothy Pedrero, Geraldine Breitweiser and Virginia Bocis.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years Carole (nee DeMarco) Kelly, 3 sons Michael Kelly of Jersey City, Brian Kelly and his wife JoAnne of Wood-Ridge, NJ and Daryle Kelly and his wife Patricia of Fredon, NJ, 4 brothers Robert of Loudon, TN, Thomas of Manchester, NJ, John “Jack” of Boca Raton, FL and William of Keyport, NJ, 4 sisters Patricia Stirone of Lyndhurst, NJ, Helen Roberts of Margo, FL, Marilyn Horath of Toms River and Cathy Ardizzone of Clifton, NJ, and 5 grandchildren Alec, Michael, Brayden, Peyton and Justin.
